The Financial Times reports on the results of a new poll indicating strong support for higher taxes on the rich and high levels of anti-globalization sentiment in rich western countries. Of course poll results do not translate into meaningful action. Is the situation sufficiently dire to be an impetus for change? I think not. Until we see economic collapse on par with the Great Depression we will not see any significant change in the system. (It would be nice to be wrong on this point.)
